Smoother, Firmer, More Youthful Looking Skin is No Longer to Dye For

Dr. Grant Stevens, Medical Director of Marina Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles, offers Fraxel® Laser Treatment without the Blue Dye by Taking Advantage of the Latest Advancements from Reliant Technologies.

LOS ANGELES, CA — June 12, 2007 – Fraxel Laser Treatment from Reliant Technologies – with its “spot by spot” approach to restoring healthy skin – is on its way to becoming one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments in Los Angeles and across the nation. Today, the company made its laser treatments even more appealing when it announced it has enhanced its technology to eliminate the need for the blue dye that used to be applied to the skin prior to treatment. As a pioneer in skin rejuvenation, Dr. Grant Stevens was one of the first plastic surgeons in Los Angeles to offer the non-ablative Fraxel Laser Treatment. Now he’s one of the first plastic surgeons in the nation to utilize the new textured roller tips and enhanced software that make the blue dye unnecessary.

The desire to look younger – to prevent or reverse the signs of aging – transcends gender, economic status and the ages. Ancient Egyptians – both men and women, wealthy and working-class – used sour milk baths or applied a mixture of oils and fermented fruit juices to prevent wrinkles and to diminish scars; royalty in China used pearl powder to improve their complexions and to soften their skin; and, since 2005, patients have had to have an FDA certified blue tint called OptiGuide Blue applied to their skin prior to Fraxel Laser Treatment in Los Angeles to rejuvenate aging and environmentally damaged skin.

That was then, because today, following Reliant Technologies’ announcement at the American Academy of Dermatology Meeting, men and women now have the opportunity to achieve more youthful looking skin, in less time and without having to tolerate the blues associated with the application of the dye. “My patients are already enthusiastic about the results they see with Fraxel Laser Treatment,” said Dr. Stevens. “Eliminating the blue dye makes the procedure itself just that much faster and simpler.”

As people age, the stress of daily life combines with the expressing of emotion, the effects of gravity and the exposure to ultraviolet light to give the skin a less than youthful appearance – fine lines and wrinkles can form and age and sun spots can appear. The Fraxel laser is a non-ablative skin rejuvenating treatment that stimulates the production of new collagen by creating a microthermal treatment zone in which laser microbeams penetrate deep into damaged tissue while leaving neighboring healthy tissue intact. Over the course of approximately five laser treatments – each lasting a mere 20 to 25 minutes – the procedure not only typically produces smoother, firmer, more youthful looking skin, but because the laser doesn’t break the skin’s protective layers, it also minimizes healing times.

“In the past,” Dr. Stevens says, “prior to Reliant’s release of the new roller tip and software technologies, we would cleanse the patient’s face and apply a blue dye which would assist the laser in distinguishing the skin’s contours. With the new rollers and faster processing times, not only are wrinkles and uneven pigmentation diminished, the time needed to perform the laser treatment is reduced as well. There’s no blue dye to apply prior to treatment and none to remove following it. And, while the procedure requires a shorter time commitment, Fraxel laser treatment is still just as safe and effective, whether it’s utilized on the face, chest, neck, back or hands.”
